The Splendiferous Dotty Dazzle is my first solo clown performance. Dazzle sets out to perform her variety act and amaze her audience. All is going to plan, until she hears ‘the noise’. Blending physical comedy with deep theatricality, this comedic solo explores the hardships of mental health and the constant loud noise beating you down inside that no one else hears. Pushing the limits of failure to embrace the possibilities and risks it unearths, this solo developed through exploring clowning techniques, improvisations, games and a drive to speak out about the silent battle of mental health vs how it feels inside and takes over.
With audience participation, lots of cards and the resilience to fail loud and fail proud, Dazzle doesn't let the noise stop her from doing what she loves, clowning around.
